If you visit Niagara Falls, especially on the Canadian side, you’ll often run into me taking pictures down by the Falls, or in the parks near the Falls. I look for happy visitors too, and try to capture their enthusiasm for their journey to Niagara. My days of carrying a lot of gear are over. It is after all, the age of digital and incredible cameras that are small and lite. I use Sony cameras, the 7 series and the fantastic a6000 series (they are up to 6500 at this writing). I carry one lens 98% of the time when wandering around Niagara, or being a tourist elsewhere. That’s a Sony 18-105 G series, which does an incredible job with video as well as still photos.
I usually do have a tripod with me though. I take still photos and high def video, and for that I usually use a tripod. Of course what you don’t see is what happens when I get home and into the computer room. That’s where I sort, discard and alter to get ready to put up on the web, or just store. I carry a small accessories kit mainly for batteries, filters and memory cards.
Although Edmonton born, and Toronto raised, we consider Niagara Falls are home. Been here 30 years, even when I was commuting to Toronto daily. Once I retired, if one ever retires, I became a tour guide for Niagara Falls and the Region. That was incredible fun. I maintain my license, and still do private and bus step-on tours from time-to-time.
We maintain the website, www.GatewayNiagara.com, www.GatewayNiagaraFalls.com and www.NiagaraHoliday.info. Been on the net since 1993, and brought these sites online in the early 2000’s. We have been ramping them up recently with a lot more information, with major plans for 2017. I also run the site, www.VideocastingStudios.com which is a site that sells marketing videos and search optimization services to businesses throughout North America.
